The Historic Frederick Hotel was built in 1913, in the Commercial style by Mrs. Viola Odendahl the daughter of a local hotelier. Viola had a vision in 1913: A hotel with indoor plumbing, coal fired steam heat and electricity! She named it after her first son. The hotel offered daily meals and hosted many celebratory dinners, showers, parties. Almost every local that stops in has a story about themselves or a relative having worked here over the years. It was a staple in the community providing employment, meals and lodging.
It has always been privately owned, and the majority of the hotels owners have been females; strong, visionary, and with keen business sense. In continuous operation since it's opening it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Frederick has an established reputation as a historic hotel facility with decor and layout that is difficult to find anywhere in the state.
